There is a room in the Museum of Man, the location of which will not be revealed. A “treasures” room where some of the most emblematic “relics” in human history are kept. And in this scientific and profane holy of holies, a box containing a small sculpture in the round, less than 15 centimeters, carved from mammoth ivory and so delicate to handle that it will not be taken out of its case. , even to examine its back – and satisfy the journalist’s curiosity. It is currently being restored, the Venus de Lespugue, named after this commune of Haute-Garonne where it was found almost a century ago and which it has made famous throughout the world.

“She is very fragile, assures the prehistorian Patrick Paillet, lecturer at the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), who comments on the presentation. It delaminates according to the very structure of the ivory and its tiny fractures which correspond to the zones of evolution of the material when the animal was alive. ” In the description – published in the journal Anthropology – that he did so quickly after having unearthed the lady of Lespugue, its discoverer, René de Saint-Périer (1877-1950), writes moreover: “The fragility of the statuette was so great at the time of discovery that ivory scales detached from its surface at the slightest touch. “

Count by trade, but also archaeologist and prehistorian, René de Saint-Périer has been exploring the area for several years. “We are in the Pyrenean foothills, resitue Patrick Paillet, in the Save valley, which cuts through a limestone plateau. The cliff is strewn with caves and shelters including the Cave of the Curtains, so called because of kinds of stalagmitic draperies. René de Saint-Périer discovered this site in 1911, he excavated there until the First World War and he resumed work in 1922 ”, with his wife Suzanne and some workers.

Broken by a pickaxe

We are on August 9, 1922, almost at the end of the excavation campaign. In semi-darkness, the bottom of the Cave of the Curtains is cluttered with large blocks of stone which have crumbled on a dark earth of hearth. In these heroic times of archeology, the time has not come for clearance measured with a brush or a dentist’s tool, “Moss and vine”, as Bernard Blier said in The Tontons gunslingers. A new strict confinement in Martinique, an explosion of cases in Guadeloupe, reinforced measures in Guyana …: in France, the fourth wave of Covid-19 particularly hits the overseas territories. Emmanuel Macron alerted Wednesday, August 11, by opening a health defense council, on the “Dramatic situation” of the epidemic in the West Indies, where “The increase in contamination results in an explosion of serious forms” of Covid-19 and a saturation of hospitals.

“An emergency scenario is now before us”, declared head of state during this defense council by videoconference from Fort de Brégançon (Var). This situation “Implies the unconditional solidarity of the Nation” and offer “The cruel demonstration” that “Vaccination is the most effective means” facing the virus, he added. In the two West Indian islands, barely 20% of the population is fully vaccinated, against more than 55% in metropolitan France, according to the latest figures from Public Health France.

“The health crisis is not behind us, very clearly, we will live for several more months with the virus”, also warned Emmanuel Macron. In addition to the surge in cases in the West Indies, the president stressed “The worrying state of affairs” in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Corsica and Occitanie regions, where the incidence rate exceeds 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and gives rise to fears of an increase in hospital pressure.

In Guyana, to fight against the progression of the Delta variant, reinforced protection measures have been decided. As of Wednesday August 11, the curfew is back in place “From Saturday 8 pm to Monday 5 am” in the communes “The most affected by the increase in the number of contaminations: Cayenne, Macouria, Matoury, Rémire-Montjoly and Kourou”, announced the prefecture in a press release. These municipalities were already in the week at a curfew whose schedules remain “Unchanged” (from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

In addition, “Any unvaccinated traveler” from Martinique and Guadeloupe “Must have a compelling reason, present before boarding a negative PCR test (less than seventy-two hours) or antigenic negative (less than forty-eight hours) and certify on their honor that they agree to undergo an antigen test on arrival “. In the event of a positive result, the traveler will have to observe a period of isolation of ten days, extendable if the test is still positive after seven days. “This measure does not concern travelers whose vaccination schedule is complete”, specifies the prefecture.

In Guyana, the incidence rate is on the rise with 259 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 213 cases the previous week. “The impact on hospitalizations is to be feared within one or two weeks”, the prefecture is alarmed, adding that the Delta variant, more contagious, now represents “More than 60% of PCR tests” made in Guyana.

The situation is “Extremely serious” in Martinique and Guadeloupe, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Tuesday evening. The incidence rate, « colossal », in his words, reached more than 1,700 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Guadeloupe and 1,200 in Martinique.

Some “274 caregivers and 60 firefighters” from the metropolis arrived for “Lend a hand to medical teams” of the two islands, announced on Tuesday night Wednesday the Minister of Overseas Affairs, Sébastien Lecornu, on Twitter.

In Martinique, new strict containment has been put in place, with non-essential businesses, vacation rentals, hotels and beaches closed as tourists were asked to leave the island on Monday.

In neighboring Guadeloupe, the figures are also rising sharply with fourteen dead last week. The epidemic situation requires opening “100 resuscitation beds”, Mr Lecornu said on his arrival Tuesday night on the island.

The Polynesian High Commissioner, Dominique Sorain, announced on Monday the re-establishment of a curfew, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., throughout the territory from Wednesday. Given the outbreak of the epidemic, he did not rule out extending ” very quickly “ the hours of this curfew, or even to set up a re-containment. “On July 16, we had an incidence rate of less than 10, today we are at more than 1,000”, regretted Mr. Sorain.

After several months of very weak circulation of the virus, the epidemic rebounded suddenly in early August. No more Polynesians were hospitalized for Covid-19 in mid-July; they are now 159 to be, including 27 in intensive care.

The authorities had already introduced several restrictions since the end of July: limiting public gatherings to twenty people and banning any event bringing together more than 500 people, banning concerts, exhibitions, funfairs, weddings and birthdays in public establishments, closed discotheques and ballrooms, closed-door sports competitions.

Actress whose talent is well established, Mimi Mathy does not live only for the cinema. The actress who blew out her 63 candles lives a cloudless happiness with her husband Benoist Gérard. In front of the microphone of Télé Star, Mimi Mathy spoke about the business which occupies her husband.

The interpreter of Joséphine in the series “Josephine, guardian angel” is delivered as never in the columns of Télé Star. Mimie Mathy discussed many subjects, including her relationship with her husband Benoist Gérard as well as the latter’s hobby.

A LABORIOUS HOLIDAY

Like some of these colleagues, Mimi Mathy has chosen to return to her second home to spend the holidays. In the company of her dear and loving husband, the actress settled in Vaison-la-Romaine, a town in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

The actress enjoys her summer stay in this town where she can rest in peace, far from television cameras and prying eyes. For Mimi Mathy, holidays are not necessarily synonymous with cessation of activity. Indeed, she has a very particular way of spending her time.

It is mainly the hobby of her husband Benoist, which however turns out to be lucrative. The latter is passionate about the culture of the vine. He is so enamored with this activity that he can devote 12 hours a day to it.

The domain on which Benoist Gérard produces his wine is called “Minoist” which is the contraction of Mimi and Benoist. It is with pride that the star of the small screen reveals that their wine is present on the menu of the great starred chefs like Anne-Sophie Pic.

As for Mimi Mathy, she likes to stay in Vaison-la-Romaine for several reasons, in particular because of the absence of traffic jams, which is not the case in Paris where you have to plan an hour to get to the downtown before finding a seat when going to the cinema.

In addition, leaving the Paris region means, for Mimi Mathy, the power to escape grayness and stress. Every summer, she invites her friends to also enjoy the benefits of a restorative rest.

A STRONG COUPLE

Mimi Mathy and her husband met in 2003 on a stage. While she was performing in Saint-Brieuc, she had brought a spectator on stage, but it turns out that it was her future husband. About this meeting, the actress had confided in the columns of Paris Match:

“There are people that you feel like you’ve known all the time, when you meet them for the first time. There it was even stronger. It’s like this person already lives in me.” .

It is therefore love at first sight. And as in all fairy tales, the two lovers passed the ring on August 28, 2005. Since then the lovebirds spin the perfect love, and yet at the beginning of their relationship, the actress was not sure of the feelings of his companion.

At the time of her meeting with Benoist Gérard, Mimi Mathy had behind her a heavy past of sentimental disappointments. She had found that her companion was very gentle, but in view of her past, she said to herself that the restaurateur must be either gay or a priest.

But the horizon had cleared up when, having taken her courage in both hands, she invited him to her Parisian home. The marriage proposal came a year after they met.

On their wedding day, the four children from the restaurant came to congratulate the newlyweds. With her husband’s children, Mimi Mathy has created strong bonds.

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF YVAN BURGER

The actress of “Josephine, guardian angel” knew a drama in his life. Indeed, the actress has lost a companion and a friend in the person of Yvan Burger. The actress had difficulty accepting this disappearance.

After the summer break, the MotoGP it started again with GP of Styria. And it was to win Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac), in front of Joan Mir e Fabio Quartararo. Back unfortunately Pecco Bagnaia (9th), while thirteenth Valentino Rossthe. The return was not great, even if only for one GP, Dani Pedrosa: first the accident with Savadori, then a race, after the restart, in the rear.

MARTIN – voto 9: a pole and then a grand prix dominated by the young Spaniard, in his first year in MotoGP. The first victory in the premier class has a particular flavor, which smacks of revenge after a great start and an injury that immediately stopped his growth. If this continues, it will be a big problem for everyone. DOMINATOR

MIR – vote 7.5: Suzuki suffered in the first part of the season, with a world champion really in the shade. However, the improvements now seem to have paid off and the Spaniard is immediately back to fight for the victory. FOUND

QUARTARARO – vote 7: third place for the Frenchman in a far from simple Grand Prix for Yamaha. However, the championship leader showed once again that he is the only one who knows how to tame this M1, even in difficulties. SUPERIOR

ZARCO – vote 6.5: once again among the best Ducati, with a sixth place which in any case means limiting the damage in the standings against an increasingly fleeing Quartararo. CONCRETE

BAGNAIA – grade 5: excellent first start, where he is even in front of everyone. Then, however, after something really goes wrong, because he loses positions after positions. With such a result, however, Pecco has definitively left the train of the best fighting for the World Cup. LOST

ROSSI – grade 5: a competition, the first of a long series, in which the Doctor will only have to try to have fun. What is certain is that it’s really tough back there. But the M1 he has in his hand for now is this. And from the team it is not that they give him a big hand, quite the contrary. For now this place is the best. RESIGNED

MARQUEZ – vote 4: it’s not 100%, both physically and technically. And we have seen it once again. But in these conditions he was not even too lucid, as he hit Aleix Espargaro at the first corner twice at the start, as if he were overtaking his life, using his rival as a “cushion” to close the corner. This is not the case, in every sense. BULLETTO

MILLER – voto 4: he had the great opportunity of a restart after a first not irresistible, he tried but then he put himself in the marking on Quartararo but in the end he exaggerated, as happens too often. And the fall now sends him away from a goal that seems to be increasingly utopian. BITCH

BITCH

After weeks of negotiations, the Senate voted on Tuesday, August 10, the infrastructure plan of 1,000 billion dollars (853 billion euros) by 69 votes against 30. This is less than the 2,300 billion wanted by the White House in the spring, but it is a major political success for Democratic President Joe Biden. Donald Trump’s successor wanted to reconcile America with itself and set an example by making a compromise: it is done, the law being the result of an amicable agreement between five Democratic senators and five Republican senators .

Mr. Biden succeeds where Donald Trump failed, unable to pass an infrastructure plan in line with his 2016 campaign promises. The president savored his pleasure in the White House, accompanied by his vice president, Kamala Harris, recalling how many times his plan had been announced stillborn. “We have proven that we can come together to do great things for the American people,” he said, adding that“There are no Republican bridges and Democratic roads”. Mr Biden thanked Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell: “The compromise is hard on both sides. It is important for democracy to work. Today, we have proven that democracy works. “

More social spending abolished

The text, which has largely crossed the necessary bar of 60 votes and received the approval of 19 Republican senators, must now be sent to the House, where the Democrats hold the majority. It will not be ratified until the fall, the Democrats, in particular its left wing, wanting to adopt a social plan of 3.5 trillion dollars, which the Democrats qualify as“Human infrastructure”.

On “physical” infrastructures, Joe Biden compared his plan to the digging of the Erie Canal, at the beginning of the 19th century.e century, which linked New York to the Great Lakes, the transcontinental railroad during the Civil War, the highways in the 1950s and the conquest of the Moon. “We make the most progress when we invest in America itself. “ In the morning, he recalled that “The United States ranks 13e world rank in infrastructure – and [qu’ils risquaient] to fall even further behind[ils n’agissaient] not. It would not be impossible for the gods to have a weakness for the bee. No other animal has lent itself with so much zeal to the delicate exercise of their communication with men. Apis mellifera appears so universal that no belief has attempted to arrogate for itself its incomparable aptitude for provoking the parable. Before the Lord, no jealousy; all religions, monotheistic or not, have gone to forage in the hive of the sacred.

A messenger with often spectacular manifestations, the bee can maintain filial relationships with the divine. The legend of the Celts says that the mother goddess Henwen, who presents herself in the guise of a sow, gives birth, among other things, to a grain of wheat and a bee to put them at the service of humans. In Greek mythology, the nymph Mélissa (which means bee) discovers the honey which she hastens to feed the very young Zeus. Later, he will mix this sweet substance with an emetic that will force his father Cronos to regurgitate the children he had devoured.

As the melliferous insect also carries the soul of the deceased, Plato, who wonders about reincarnation, is convinced that those who “Have devoted themselves to social and physical virtue” will be reborn in this form. Among the Mayans, several gods take on the appearance of the melipona, this small Central American bee with blue eyes that does not sting and produces excellent honey.

Honey, precisely, the elaboration of which conceals many mysteries, contributes greatly to the charisma of the bee even if, when God reveals to Moses the promised land of Canaan by designating “A land flowing with milk and honey”, it is date honey (or rather syrup). In the Jewish religion, real honey, a substance produced from the nectar of flowers processed by the insect, is considered kosher. Unless it is honeydew honey, produced by bees from a liquid exuded by aphids.

In Hebrew, honey derives from the same root as the word “word” and the only woman among the Judges of Israel, one of the few prophetesses in the Bible, is called Deborah, another first name which means bee. In The Donkey and the Bee (Albin Michel, 2014), Gilles Lapouge recalls that “The kabbalists teach that the murmur of the hive is an echo of the creative Word”.

However, the New Testament makes the bee disappear. “On examining the Gospels closely, there is no mention of them. Not the slightest allusion, not even the smallest symbolic use ”, observe Pierre-Henri and François Tavoillot in The Bee (and the) Philosopher (Odile Jacob, 2015). Explanation : ” The place mediation [la fonction d’intermédiaire entre Dieu et les hommes] is occupied, and well occupied, by Christ himself who has a monopoly on it, so to speak. “

Guinea announced Tuesday, August 10, the strengthening of health controls at the borders, the compulsory wearing of masks and the closure of nightclubs in order to fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

“In an exceptional situation, exceptional measures are required, applied with courage, determination and the greatest firmness”, said President Alpha Condé, according to a statement reporting to the Council of Ministers. The compulsory wearing of the mask was thus decreed, as well as the “Nightclubs and other busy leisure venues closed until further notice”. Civil servants, including ministers, will only be able to access their workplace with their health pass.

People entering Guinea and “Coming from countries particularly affected by the Delta variant” should be vaccinated, added the authorities, without giving the list of countries concerned, but stressing that PCR tests should also be presented on arrival. Alpha Condé specified that the government’s objective was to vaccinate 70% of the country’s population, which has more than 13 million inhabitants, by November.

Delta variant and Marburg virus

Guinea has officially recorded 27,112 cases of Covid-19, including 263 fatalities, an undervalued figure according to observers. With the emergence of the Delta variant, which is more contagious, the threshold of 1,000 people tested positive per day is about to be crossed, with nearly ten daily deaths in hospital, according to official figures.

On another health front, Guinean authorities have yet to announce any decision regarding the first case of Marburg virus disease, which is highly virulent and causes hemorrhagic fever. “One case has been declared. We are organizing to contain the virus and organize the response. We will inform the opinion of the evolution ”government spokesman Tibou Camara told AFP. ” It’s the first time that [cette maladie] is identified in the country and in West Africa ”, can we read on the website of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Some 155 contact cases of the victim – a man who died on August 2 – are being followed up daily. The Marburg virus is a slightly less deadly cousin of the Ebola virus, for which there is no vaccine or treatment and which results in death in 50% of cases on average. The case was detected less than two months after Guinea declared the end of an Ebola epidemic that erupted earlier this year, killing 12 people. The country has already been severely affected by hemorrhagic fever caused by the Ebola virus, which killed 2,500 people there between the end of 2013 and 2016.

Slowly but steadily, live music is once again part of our lives. One of the great summer events is usually the Mas and Mas Festival which brings together great artists of different genres every year in its rooms. But there is another program within this contest that tends to go unnoticed but that deserves the most attention. It is about the concerts that take place in Plaza Reial from Tuesday to Sunday in August, at 6.30 pm, with several additional incentives: They are free (limited capacity with prior reservation) and they allow us to discover emerging musicians and veterans who leave their skin to make us enjoy. Let’s review the names that we will be able to discover in the next few days.

Lots of soul and record presentations

This afternoon it is the turn of Tonia Richii and Tito Bonacera, que forman The Secret Investment, a group of soulful, r’n’b y groove that stands out for its raw and organic melodies, in an electric environment and an electronic atmosphere. The couple has been performing and composing together for more than five years creating music that inspires freedom, joy and placidity. The singer and songwriter Aisha Fay (Sunday 8) comes from the world of gospel with which he has performed on big stages such as the Liceu or the Palau de la Música. Now he has started his solo career with his new job, Days like this, a proposal of soul, pop and jazz in an intimate format, ideal for a velvety and warm voice like yours.

Next week will start with Maria la blanco (Tuesday 10th), who has worked with Las Migas and Maruja Limón. His style drinks from multiple influences, from Latin music to funk through Mediterranean, Brazilian or flamenco. He will take advantage of the concert to present his first solo album, Singer-songwriter, composed of a series of vital songs and at the same time vindictive. On Wednesday the 11th it must be emphasized because one of the greats arrives, Clarence Bekker With his band. Has a deep, magnetic and vibrant voice and reviews the repertoire of the great musicians in the history of soul, funk and pop in the concerts with which the Jamboree has filled every week for years.

Nature transformed into music. that’s how I feel many of the compositions and sounds created by the master Marco Bosco, with whom we had the honor of having a very nice chat about his work, career and this delicious relationship with nature coming mainly from his origins, a small and beautiful city in the interior of São Paulo.

Feel, because when I hear the song Sunset Colors, for example, I feel like I’m in a tropical forest, with those warm rays of sun entering through the gaps in the forest. This trip is part of the album in partnership with Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, Live at Brazilian Embassy, Koala Record, 2014 and also contains Jazz and Bossa Nova standards, such as Naima, Caravan, Amor em Paz, among others.

The musician fell in love with percussion after listening to Fingers, album of Airto moreira, released by the CTI label, in 1973. He started professionally in the 1970s and has played with music giants such as Sergio Mendes, Hank Jones, Rita Lee, Nina Simone, Egberto Gismonti, Maestro Roger Duprat, Raul de Souza, Nelson ayres, Wanderléia, Raul Seixas, Baby do Brasil, Belchior, Adoniran Barbosa, Joe Geraldo, White Feather & Chavantinho, Joe Rodrix, Caetano Veloso, Elza Soares, Zelia Duncan, Sandra de Sa, Maestro Moacir Santos , and many, many others.

In 2014, he recorded the album Tokyo Diary, with the participation of Airto, and also, Flora Purim, Oscar Castro Neves, Cesar Camargo Mariano, the pianist Paulo Calasans (with whom he released the album 33, in celebration of the 33 years of partnership) and Jane Duboc.

At the beginning of his career, he improved his art with Paulo Simões Silva e José Ulisses Arroyo, musicians from the Municipal Symphonic Orchestra of Campinas/SP, joined the orchestra of panther brothers, who played in a brothel in Campinas.

“Deaf, congo, bongo, ganzá and nothing else, I didn’t need anything else, just that all night long dance music, a hell of a school”. Then he went to a place “that had to have a movie, it was called O Cangaceiro, with Roberto Luna, Germano Matias and a samba group” tells us Bosco. Just the beginning of a long career for this talented artist.

Versatile, the artist transitions between pop and jazz with ease, a musician from the Vice-Versa studio has played with countless musicians. RPM, a band that was a great pop success in the 80s/90s, Raul Seixas, Wanderléa. The forró singer and composer Genival Lacerda recorded a track on the album Techno Roots, released in 2001, among other artists, Genival lent his gingado to Xote de Copacabana, a song by Jackson do Pandeiro, who is also featured on the album.

Bosco told us about his time in Japan, where he lived for 20 years. He moved there by chance, worked at the RCA record label and was invited to play on a tour around the country, he liked it so much that later he ended up coming back and staying. The offer of musical instruments, in the homes of some of the best manufacturers in the world, such as Yamaha, Korg and Roland, the state-of-the-art technology, the great field of work that there is for an artist in Japan, were some of the things that delighted Bosco. The artist has recorded several advertisements, tracks, records, with SYN Productions, the creative agency founded in Tokyo by Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), his wife Yasmin and Nick Wood. The first big job was to assemble an orchestra, at the request of Nick Wood, for the launch of a car, in an important Japanese car fair.

In 1980, as group leader Acaru, recorded the album in Tokyo Live at Hot-Crocket” (RCAVictor) e Aqualouco, in Brazil, in 1981. The first solos came in 1983, Metalmadeira, and in 1986, fragments of the house, with the participation of Egberto Gismonti, Oswaldinho do Accordion, between others.

In 2009 he received the Grammy for best contemporary jazz record for the artistic direction of the album Randy in Brazil and in 2012, he was nominated for a Latin Grammy, with the album Raiz, from Leila Pinheiro.

I couldn’t help asking about the diva Nina Simone, with whom he played on a tour in Europe and then here in Brazil. Bosco tells us that he was nominated by producer Herbert Lucas, she saw videos and accepted, .

“As it was with Supertramp, Duran Duran, my biggest product outside Brazil is that I’m Brazilian, anything I play will have my way of walking, I think 2 by 4, it’s natural, it’s the tropicalism of our floor ”. Chance and huge talent led him to play with Hank Jones as well, while recording in a studio in Tokyo, a guy “all neat, handsome, looked like a Hollywood artist” saw him through the studio window, it was Jones himself, who invited him to participate in recordings.

Currently, Bosco is finishing disc 40, an album that will celebrate with great partnerships, old and new, his rich road in music. All participants somehow participated in the artist’s trajectory, Airto Moreira, André Mehmari, Cassio Poletto, Flora Purim, Luiz Carlos Sá (Singer of Double Sá & Guarabyra), Ruria Duprat, Wilson Simoninha, are some of the names. The musician Luiz Wagner receives a tribute Dear friend of Bosco, they recorded the last song before Wagner’s recent passing. Recorded remotely, during the pandemic, Bosco saw that he could use the technology to his advantage and with the perfect vision of a producer he has, the adaptation was easy, “since this is the stop, welcome to the club”.

With 14 own albums and several studio appearances and concerts by other musicians, Bosco, art and we deserve this delicious gift, a dip in Brazilian and world music, we are eager to get it out of the oven, it will soon be available on platforms digital, on the project website and on social media.

Nature transformed into music. that’s how I feel many of the compositions and sounds created by the master Marco Bosco, with whom we had the honor of having a very nice chat about his work, career and this delicious relationship with nature coming mainly from his origins, a small and beautiful city in the interior of São Paulo.
