“Tennis elbow can be difficult to treat, leaving many patients unable to perform the simplest tasks, such as picking up their children, cooking dinner, or even working on a computer. With this frustration, many patients turn to invasive major surgery after years of failed physical therapy and medication use,” said Yuji Okuno, MD, PhD, founder of the Okuno Clinic in Japan and lead author of the study. “We were interested to see if this technique, already in use in other areas of the body, would be effective for this common, debilitating condition and help people immediately regain a range of motion that many of us take for granted in our everyday tasks.”

Dr. Okuno’s team conducted a prospective study in 52 patients with tennis elbow who did not find relief from other forms of treatment. The patients received TAE between March 2013 and October 2017 and were followed for up to four years after the treatment. The researchers said they found statistically significant reductions in pain-rating scores, using methods including the Quick Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand scores; visual analog scale pain rating scores; Patient-rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation scores; and pain-free grip strength. Additionally, images taken in 32 patients two years after undergoing TAE showed an improvement in tendinosis and tear scores.

The treatment can be completed in approximately one hour and requires only a needle hole to access the radial artery in the wrist under local anesthesia. A catheter is moved through the wrist to the elbow where the inflamed blood vessels are embolized, preventing excessive blood flow to the affected part of the elbow. The treatment is safe and effective and doesn’t require physical therapy, researchers said. No adverse events were observed and no patients experienced negative effects to the surrounding bones, cartilage or muscles.

Tennis elbow is caused by overuse and repetitive stress to the tendons and muscles around the elbow. It typically affects people who play sports with repetitive swinging motions, such as tennis or golf, but it can also affect job performance of carpenters, cooks, assembly-line workers and others. While pain is a hallmark symptom, chronic tennis elbow can cause loss of grip and arm strength, limited use of the arm, and burning sensations on the outer portion of the arm.

The tempo starts slowly then accelerates, the step is swaying and the clothes elegant: the Congolese rumba makes “sapeurs” and “ambianceurs” dance in Brazzaville and Kinshasa, united by the love of this music. “It’s a moment that we look forward to. The rumba registered in the intangible heritage, it is absolute happiness, immortality ”, enthuses Jean-Claude Faignond, manager of the first bar-dancing in Brazzaville, Espace Faignond, in the district of Poto-Poto, where the Bantous orchestra of the capital was created in 1959.

“Rumba is a passion shared by all Congolese It is sprawling, in all areas of national life ”, assures Professor André Yoka Lye, director in Kinshasa of the National Institute of the Arts (INA) and president of the “mixed commission for the promotion of Congolese rumba with a view to its inclusion in the heritage of humanity”. For him, this rumba is “A unifying element of social cohesion, but also of the past and the present”.

„Je vidět, že kolem pana Lipavského probíhá horečné jednání. Je možné, že my ve skutečnosti vůbec nevíme, co vše se kolem toho uvnitř odehrává. Ten spor půjde zřejmě do konfliktu a my budeme čekat na výsledek kompetenční žaloby.“ Petr Fiala podle Koreckého ale dal najevo, že neustupuje z boje.

Korecký okomentoval i spor z roku 2001, který dospěl ke kompetenčnímu soudu. „Miloš Zeman tehdy prohrál a Václav Havel si to obhájil.“

V tom případě by resort zatím řídil jiný člen vlády, třeba i sám premiér, dokud nerozhodne Ústavní soud o kompetenční žalobě. Miroslav Korecký zodpoví i to, jak moc by taková žaloba zkomplikovala další politické dění u nás.

Losses and profits. David Velez’s story alone sums up the explosive encounter between the digital revolution and the financial madness that has gripped the world for ten years. A young Colombian engineer who left to study in the United States, he was sent by the investment company Sequoia to open an office in Brazil, in order to explore Latin America. Opening a bank account is a hardship: hours of waiting, mountains of documents to fill out, directors inaccessible. And, once past the obstacles, outrageously high bank fees.

He then suggested that his employer create his own bank, without an agency, and only accessible by smartphone, called “Nubank”. In 2013, Sequoia invested $ 1 million (883,000 euros) in the start-up, and the first account was opened in 2014. Four years later, the company, active in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, is valued more of $ 1 billion and attracts international investors. Thursday, December 9, Nu Holdings, the parent company, broke into Wall Street, raising $ 2.5 billion. Eight years after its inception in the suburb of Sao Paulo, the company is valued at $ 40 billion and has become the largest independent digital bank in the world. Sequoia lost an employee, but its stake in Nubank is now worth more than $ 7 billion.

Investments explode

The fintech madness is the last territory of the digital revolution. From payment to currency, it is turning the world of money upside down, despite the strong regulations surrounding this profession. According to analysts at BCG, investments in this sector increased by 173% in the third quarter, compared to the same period of 2020. Europe is not left out, with, in particular, the British start-up Revolut , founded in 2014, and valued over $ 30 billion. The German bank N26, created in 2013, is worth 9 billion, even if its hasty withdrawal from America has seriously damaged its image. Money, even free, is not everything.

In France too, but late, fintech are flourishing. Almost 800 million euros have been invested since the start of the year. The companies Spendesk, Qonto, Lydia or Swile are courted by all the global funds and take the opportunity to fill their portfolios. Until now, the French successes in this field ended in the hands of the big banks which hold the market with an iron fist. BNP Paribas bought out Nickel in 2017, Société Générale and Boursorama in 2014, but the wave is getting out of hand. Nubank and Revolut are each worth more than Société Générale. The day of truth is approaching.

The red sedan emits that slight whistle characteristic of electric motors. Soon the only audible sound is the roar of the wheels against the cobblestones of the plaza that faces the vast reception building of BYD, the Chinese leader in electric cars, in Shenzhen (Guangdong), southern China. The driver crushes the accelerator, and the passengers are suddenly pressed against their seats. BYD claims 0-100 km / h acceleration in just 3.9 seconds. The Han series, named after the first Chinese dynasty, “Demonstrates the progress of the industrial prowess of the country”, writes the mark.

But the secret of the Han, whose design is reminiscent of that of the Californian Tesla’s cars, is neither its speed nor its range, it is its price. Thanks to innovative technology, BYD can equip its vehicles with sufficiently efficient batteries, without the use of cobalt, and therefore both cheaper and safer than their competitors. For 550 kilometers of autonomy, it takes 230,000 yuan (32,000 euros). As for the small urban Haitun (“dauphine”), it is sold from 93,000 yuan for 300 kilometers of autonomy.

BYD, NIO, Xpeng: in Tesla’s wake, the Chinese are now well placed in the race for electric vehicles. We know less about the battery manufacturers that equip them. The discreet Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) has yet dethroned the South Korean LG to become world number one in 2020, and the company has become the second market capitalization of China, with 204 billion euros. For its part, BYD, founded in 1995 to equip electronic devices with batteries, now occupies third place in the world and weighs 110 billion euros on the stock market, twice the value of Stellantis. A success that rewards the efforts and billions invested by the Chinese authorities for more than ten years to ensure the development of the industry and the success of its national foals.

” Red carpet “

Today, most manufacturers seek to collaborate with the Chinese: CATL supplies Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, PSA, General Motors and many Chinese manufacturers. BYD, which for a long time was content to produce batteries for its own vehicles, is also starting to forge partnerships with third parties, including Toyota, Ford and the Chinese luxury limousine maker Hongqi. Renault would think about it.

Since 2009, China has made the development of this sector a priority. Faced with endemic pollution, the country has spent billions on subsidies, limited registrations of combustion cars and now imposes quotas for new energy vehicles on producers.

New Orleans led another five and a half before the end by five points, but Jokic was at the end of the match with everything significant. He lowered first and sent Denver into the lead seventeen seconds before the end, but Jonas Valančiunas managed to equalize for the Pelicans. In overtime, Jokic missed the game only once and 11 points led the Nuggets to win.

“He does not beat his opponents with speed, jump, skills, but cleverness. He is one of the best players in the NBA we can see today,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone praised his charge, who is due to introduce himself to the Serbian team next September. national team in Prague at the European Championships in a group with the Czech Republic.

At the same time, the Thunder lost by 13 points in the match and lost the lead by 14 points in the last quarter. The Czech representative Vít Krejčí did not play for Oklahoma.

Heat moved with 28 points to Caleb Martin, for whom it was the best performance of his career. Miami also relied on triplets and broke the club record with 22 accurate attempts.

Houston has already won its seventh win in a row, this time stepping on the leader of the Eastern Brooklyn Conference and winning 114: 104. However, the Nets played without their top scorer Kevin Durant and other LaMarcus Aldridge props.

Are the reassuring hypotheses on the harmfulness of the Omicron variant coming too late for those traveling? With the approach of the end of year holidays, they appear, in the tourist world, as the main losers in the wind of panic of recent weeks. Despite pleas from international organizations, tourism and health, many countries, including France, have put regulatory brakes on travel, with an immediate effect on activity.

The Travel Companies (EDV) stress that the level of reservations, since the end of November, has fallen to 30% of what it was in 2019. To this must be added the massive cancellations, since the beginning of December, on three destinations, which represent, in total, a third of the volume of winter holidays abroad: Morocco and Mauritius, temporarily made difficult to access, and the West Indies, where social protest is not weakening.

The fifth wave in France and the restrictions announced by the government on Monday, December 6, also made the kindling of reception organizers at the end of the year. Banquets of associations, business seminars, family reunions: cancellations are raining for “Festive and convivial events in the professional and private spheres”, designated, by Jean Castex, as presenting “The highest risk of contamination”. At the end of November, Elisabeth Borne’s announcements on end-of-year bribes in companies had triggered the first cancellations and a drop in business trips.

“It settles down, but there is no runaway”

The general climate is, however, incomparable with that of winter 2020-2021, when France was emerging from a second murderous wave and still awaiting vaccine doses. The sector is not suffering from massive cancellations, whether in the mountains or in Parisian tourism, but rather a decline in autumn enthusiasm.

This is particularly the case in Strasbourg and Lyon, where reservations linked, respectively, to the Christmas market and the Festival of Lights have slowed sharply for a week, notes the hotel analysis firm MKG. “In Paris, there was a great dynamic, notes Vanguélis Panayotis, director of MKG. It settles down, but there is no runaway. We know where we set foot, we live with the virus. The only subject is the Americans and the cancellation of events in hotels. ” The recommendation by US health officials to avoid travel to France could deter some transatlantic travel around the New Year.

“Nothing has been stopped. There is no design, no price, no contract. The only certainty is that we will not have new submarines for twenty years and their cost will be much higher than those of French design ”, had deplored, on September 29, the former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

It was two weeks after the cancellation of the contract for the purchase of twelve Barracuda from Naval Group and the resounding announcement of a new strategic partnership between Canberra, Washington and London (Aukus) providing for the supply of eight submarines nuclear powered to his country. Three months later, Australia doesn’t know much more.

It will enable Australians to undergo training in the construction, use and maintenance of submarines in the United States and the United Kingdom and to a multidisciplinary working group, which has eighteen months to advise the government on the best strategy to follow to complete this purchase, to access all the necessary data.

Because if Australia will acquire faster devices, diving deeper and remaining submerged longer than the diesel-electric propulsion Barracuda promised by France, it will also be the only nation without nuclear weapons to hold this type. of ships. A real technological challenge for the country, which is faced with a series of puzzles.

The fundamental question is: who do we want as a strategic partner for the next fifty years? Between Paris and Washington, any Australian government would have turned to our historic ally, Washington, which probably explains why we did not ask France. As for Great Britain, its industrial capacity is less than that of the Americans, it is also much less present in the Indo-Pacific. “ But if Canberra set its sights on the Virgins, could the United States provide them? Not without strong political will. With the two shipyards producing them already running at full capacity, they should increase their production capacity or open a third site to meet Australian demand.
